Tier 1 Visas
Tier 1 visas are suitable for those with specialist skills who are seeking moving to the UK with an intention to settle here. Applications under this Tier can be initiated from within the UK or from outside the UK. Applicants are required to meet certain points based on their qualifications and skills. Applicants are required to submit a range of supporting documentation to prove their qualification under the Tier together with forms for the application.

Tier 1 (General)
New applications into this Tier are now closed. However those who have leave under the Tier may apply for an extension. Applicants must still score points for Attributes which include qualifications, previous earnings, age and UK experience (if applicable) and additional points for English language and Maintenance/Funds.

Tier 1 Investor
The Tier 1 (Investor) category is for high-net-worth individuals who want to make a substantial financial investment in the UK. Applicants are awarded points for showing the ability to invest £1,000,000 in the UK. There is no maintenance or English requirement under this Tier. Applications can be made from outside or within the UK (if under a qualifying category).

Tier 2 Visas

Tier 2 (General)
This Tier is for foreign nationals who have been offered a skilled job to fill a gap in the workforce that cannot be filled by a settled worker. Applicants must score points for a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), Maintenance/Funds and English Language. The employer must first obtain a Sponsorship Licence to enable them to issue you with a (CoS) before they can make your application. Applications can be made from within the UK (if you qualify) or from outside the UK.
Evidence requirements are applied very strictly under the Points Based System by the UK Border Agency (UKBA). Therefore it is essential that the correct documents are submitted in support of your application at the outset.

Tier 2 (Minister of Religion)
This Tier (Minister of religion) category is for people who have been offered employment or posts or roles within their faith communities in the UK as:
- ministers of religion undertaking preaching and pastoral work;
- missionaries; or
- members of religious orders.
The Sponsor must first obtain a Sponsorship Licence to enable them to issue you with a (CoS) before they can make your application. Points are awarded for a valid CoS and English Language. Applications can be made from outside the UK and within the UK.

Tier 2 (Intra Company Transfer)
This route is for employees of multinational companies who are being transferred by their overseas employer to a UK branch of the organisation, either on a long-term basis or for frequent short visits. The routes allows established, skilled employees to be transferred to the UK branch of their organisation to fill a post that cannot be filled by a new recruit from the resident workforce or recent graduate employees to come and learn the skills and knowledge required to perform their job overseas, or to impart their specialist skills or knowledge to the UK workforce.

Tier 2 (Sportsperson)
This category is for elite sportspeople and coaches who are internationally established at the highest level, and will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport.
Your application will need to be endorsed by your sport's governing body. The Sponsor must first obtain a Sponsorship Licence to enable them to issue you with a (CoS) before they can make your application. Points are awarded for a valid CoS and English Language. There is an English Language and Maintenance requirements to be met.
